Baughan's Northeast Guide helps our visitors to quickly find nonsectarian, family oriented Attractions, Homes, Lodging or Shopping in this part of the country. It's actually simplicity itself.

The Guide is organized into counties and regions. New York has 61 counties, grouped into 11 regions. The six New England states are divided into their 67 counties. The result is this directory structure --

(1) Lodging. In general parlance, a bed & breakfast consists of typically 3 to 8 bedrooms in an often stately residence, and usually serves only one meal... breakfast. A country inn may be larger, often under 20 rooms but may have a full service restaurant or other special amenity. A homestay is usually a home, like a B&B, but it is not likely to have a commercial signpost. We do not normally list chain hotels or transient motels, but will consider resort and other destination properties. Also see visitor codes.

(2) The "Outdoors" category includes a variety of activities. Campgrounds, including links to Sporting Camps (lodging with hunting/fishing emphasis), will also be found under "Outdoors."

(3) Homes. This includes a real estate agency, agent or other on-going entity. We do not list individual properties/developments for sale

(4) In this context, "Regional" refers to a specialty of an given county, such as "fall foliage tours," or "pick your own" farms, etc. "Other attractions" includes fairs, recurring events, and also attractions which are not listed elsewhere. "Unique offerings" refers to out-of-the-ordinary items, as well as products and services of interest to visitors, but not listed elsewhere.

Note that in sparsely populated areas, you may see "There are currently no listings in this category" under a topic heading.
